How to apply perfume correctly so it lasts as long as possible

A good scent can last all day long – if you know where and how to apply it . Many people spray perfume on their necks and then wonder why they can't smell it for an hour. Here's a step-by-step guide to getting the most out of every drop .

1. Where to apply perfume?

The best places on the body are the so-called pulse points – where the skin is warmer and the perfume is released better:

  • behind the ears
  • on the inside of the wrist
  • on the carotid artery (side of the neck)
  • inner side of the elbows
  • upper chest (in case of a deeper neckline)

Extra tip: If you're using a stronger scent like Black Afgano , 1-2 sprays are enough. For lighter scents like Fico di Amalfi, you can afford more.

2. How much perfume to use?

Less is sometimes more – but it also depends on the type of fragrance:

  • Eau de Parfum (EDP) – 2–4 sprays
  • Eau de toilette (EDT) – 3–5 sprays
  • Extracts / oils – 1–2 spot applications

Ideally, spray from a distance of 10–15 cm and do not rub! Rubbing destroys the structure of the fragrance molecules.

3. Apply to hydrated skin

The scent lasts best on damp or slightly oily skin . Ideally right after a shower, when the skin is clean and prepared.

Bonus tip: Try applying unscented body lotion or Vaseline to your pulse points first – this will "lock in" the perfume and make it last much longer.

4. Hair perfume? Yes, but with discretion

Hair holds scent beautifully – but alcohol can dry out your hair. Ideally, use a special hair perfume , or spray it lightly on a brush and run it through your hair.

5. Portable sprayer – a must-have

If you want to refresh your scent throughout the day, it's ideal to have a travel spray . Pour a few milliliters of your favorite fragrance into it and always keep it with you.

6. What not to do

  • Don't spray perfume on clothes – it can leave stains.
  • Don't rub your wrists together - you'll ruin the high notes.
  • do not use more than one perfume at a time unless they are intended for "layering"

In conclusion – how the pros do it

Pros spray the fragrance on pulse points, fresh from the shower, on clean, moisturized skin . Then they just let the fragrance do its work.
